Hair Tools: You may think – what’s so special about them or hair for that matter?
The fact of the matter is that Hair is not just strands of protein; it’s a vital part of our appearance and identity, the “crowning glory.” Hair is a canvas for self-expression and a barometer of our complete well-being. Recognizing its importance and employing proper hair care practices are crucial for embracing and nourishing this key aspect of ourselves.
No more Bad Hair Day
I don’t know about you but I did not get comfortable with my hair until I hit fortish. The only thing I could say about it was not much. Brown, straight, and hard to manage. Indeed, these were different times, different circumstances, and different attitudes. I did not begin to totally accept my hair until I discovered products and ways to nourish, style, and take care of this noticeable part of my appearance.
And as I was learning more about it, and testing more hair looks and products, OMG – I finally started to hear compliments on my new haircuts and my hair for that matter! My high school girlfriend had slightly wavy light gray hair and I thought she was the luckiest dog in the world. It was something to admire for me but at the same time — something I could never be proud of my hair for sure. However, there were a couple of things I could do for certain – research and targeted shopping for products and accessories to match my style and the vision of my IDEAL hair.
Hair Tools for No Worries
You think you know your hair type but every product you use can’t seem to work? The chances are, you are not in agreement with your hair type, at least as you thought. Much like understanding your skin type is key to adopting an effective skincare plan, knowing your actual hair type plays a mighty role in your daily hair management techniques. The obvious qualities like straight, wavy, curly, and coily, and also other factors (hair’s porosity and scalp moisture) are worth considering in this category. Sounds overwhelming? No worries. We’re here to help! Below are a few tips about determining your exact hair type and what that means for your daily hair care Hair Texture.
Before Selecting the Right Hair Tools
Shape and Structure
Well, first look at the texture of your hair. What is your hair’s natural shape or pattern of your strands? Are you unsure about it? It is easy to follow this advice. Next time you wash your hair, leave your hair free of products and let it air dry. If your hair dries straight, without a curl or a slight curl, the chances are your hair is straight. Suppose it dries slightly curvy, then it is defined as wavy. If your hair dries with a clear loop shape, it’s likely curly. You’ve got tight curls, spirals, or zig-zag hair? It is referred to coily.
We can tell our hair structure by how easily it gets styled. Fine hair being delicate does not hold curls very well. Medium hair is easier to style and it holds its shape for a longer time. In the meantime, thick hair can hold curls well but can be difficult to style because it is normally less supple.
Moisture and Porosity
The easiest way to determine the moisture of your hair and scalp is to take a close look at it on the second day after a hair wash. Flat roots, and greasy hair, will most likely point to an oily scalp. It may be a good idea to add oil control hair to your shampoo to help balance out your scalp sebum production. There is a connection between these two: if your scalp isn’t in good shape, your hair strands aren’t either. How we manage our hygiene is a direct reflection of us. And when your hair is seemingly out of control, you may get out of balance.
Hair‘s Porosity has to do do with how hair absorbs moisture and hair product. The important thing is that knowing how porous your hair is will help you assess what kind of products and hair tools you should be using for styling it. Looking for the easiest way to determine your hair’s porosity? Experts advise placing a single strand of hair into a bowl of water. If your strand sinks to the bottom, it is highly porous and it sucks in all the moisture. The strand lays below the surface but floats above the bottom of the bowl — then your hair is well-balanced.

Useful Hacks for Hair Care
I’d like to share a couple of my favorite hair tips here: they both require simple ingredients such as Shampoo, Jojoba oil, Clove essential oil, etc.
For dry hair. First, we need about 200 ml of your favorite shampoo. It does not have to be fancy or expensive. Add 1 teaspoon of Jojoba oil and 2 drops of Clove essential oil. Shake all the mixture well, apply it to your hair, and leave it on it for 5 minutes. Rinse the hair well. Enjoy softer, stronger hair.
For oily hair. The same “recipe” only instead of 2 drops of Clove essential oil add just 1.
Other ingredients you can add to your shampoo instead of the above ones are:
- Henna (colorless henna for blond hair. It adds moisture to your hair and thickens it well.
- Almond oil (instead of Jojoba oil)
- Lemon essential oil instead of Clove essential oil. It eliminates dandruff as well.
- A teaspoon of Lemon juice (or Aloe Vera juice).
