“The person with big dreams is more powerful than the one with all the facts.”
(Albert Einstein)
During one of our recent calls, our leader and Master Marketer Rory Ricord stressed the importance for us to set Bigger Dreams. Those Dreams are a driving force that makes all of us look a little further into our future. Dreaming in a Bigger Way also helps us reach where we want to be months or years from now. Additionally, it aids in envisioning what the dream achievement would feel like.
It means happier for me
As Rory was sharing his Dreaming Bigger philosophy, I was reflecting on why I actually joined this online community of marketers months ago. I simply wanted to take more control of my life and make a good living while being on my schedule and not on somebody else’s. At that moment, I did not realize how special this digital community was and why our members often refer to it as a Family. All I hoped was to fit in and grow in this new career from there. And yes, I wanted to feel happy with my new occupation. Also, I was looking for some bad memories from my previous job to fade away so I would not have to look back going forward.
One wise person said, “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” While success and dreaming bigger may not always mean the same things to everyone, this quote, with a slight addition that I’ll make a point of below, reflects my Dreaming Bigger Vision quite accurately.
Throughout my life, when I accepted myself and was involved in the activities I loved Including my school and work years I was generally happy with how I performed. I felt that I lived my dream. I know that today I have quite a bit of work to do on mastering things and figuring out the most optimal and enjoyable way to handle my marketing business. So that it brings me to my goals and I feel that I’m on the right track. I wake up looking to a new day and ready to get on what I need to do!
Dreaming bigger together
First, I love the feeling that in this new field for me, I’m not entirely by myself. Our peers, mentors, and leaders interact, learn from each other, and help one another a lot! Finally rather than struggling with my pages and ads, I am starting to enjoy creating new content for them. All this is inspiring because it tells me that I am able to accomplish some important pieces of my new work at this point in my life. Such as continuing to be financially independent at the level that allows me to travel thousands of miles internationally to see my family at least every year instead of every two or three years as I used to do in the past. I am confident that many of my team members have more prominent and challenging dreams but this is quite inspiring for me at this point in my life.
And “a little” more
Then, because I don’t have a nice retirement portfolio due to my limited time working in this country (less than 12 years) I want to supplement my monthly income with new income streams. I’d like to count on when I retire – hopefully by the time I turn 60. As I dream bigger, I want a comfortable and flexible lifestyle providing for my needs and wants. I envision that I’ll have a place for my leisure time in a location of my choice. Ideally closer to a warm ocean that I’ve been missing a lot in recent years!
Ultimately, even something larger than that would be seeing my son, and the rest of my family, do well and be healthy and happy. That’d be incredibly awesome because anything I do in my life is for them as well. I know bigger things and Dreaming Bigger is possible for me now. And I’m determined to give what it takes to achieve them.
Dreaming bigger things requires shifting the mindset
I know maybe the hardest thing for me to do on the way to financial and economic freedom and prosperity is to adjust my mindset. This is truly a biggie. I always considered myself a strong professional in several areas, including teaching, client services, and program coordination, and I was able to make an excellent income and afford a relatively comfortable lifestyle for my family. My only side gig was tutoring kids in languages from time to time. Yet never did any sales or advertising before I joined the marketing program. Comfortable working on a computer but I wish I had more technical knowledge about the multiple computer programs I am utilizing now. Not too interested or savvy in writing or video presentations. Skeptical about online marketing potential for me. Definitely, not the strongest investment for the digital marketing occupation.
Getting out of the comfort zone
The qualities I bring to my new career, however, are: I’m well disciplined, curious, eager to learn, do research, implement projects and try new things. Getting out of my comfort zone is both exciting and terrifying, but I know I can’t accomplish my goals by simply relying on my past knowledge and experience. I contemplate doubling or tripling my previous earnings and trying out million-dollar opportunities for myself.
This is a MEGA shift for me which has taken months to achieve this change in my mindset so I am not afraid of accepting my new reality and trusting myself with accomplishing more challenging goals. The mindset is important because with the right mindset comes the right attitude. Strong skills and expert knowledge are often less important than the right attitude. It is crucial to how you feel and project yourself in any business as well as in marketing. I am very thankful to all our mentors and Rory’s leadership who‘ve instilled that trust in me. They became my role models.
Dreaming bigger means changing daily routines
Being zealous about bringing more freedom and flexibility into our lives is great; it will keep us motivated, but success requires more effort. I must be organized, diligent, disciplined, focused, determined, and constantly improving myself. My goals will be accomplished by having smaller successes, such as finding my “voice” as a blogger, creating more “quality” pages and ads, ensuring better communication with prospects, and working with our online marketing community more closely on issues of importance.
I had some planning to do. First, I outlined all the key things I need to do on my way to a more fulfilling life. Secondly, I have categorized my main business and personal activities by week and assigned the time it will take to complete each. The organization is key. Developing consistency in my daily tasks to make them my second nature is also significant so I am going to stick to my plan to the best of my ability.
Like success being consistent, diligent, and organized comes over time. Building all blocks of a tower may take thousands of repetitions. But I am doing my best to be sure that my vision and desired outcomes are crystal clear as I decide to move forward with my more challenging aspirations.
What is your Big Dream??
